A Career Action Plan is an individualized plan students use to identify career goals and describe the steps necessary to pursue those goals.
Career Action Plans are dynamic documents that are updated regularly as students’ refine their educational and career goals based on experiences that are provided to them in middle and high school.
Having a plan for high school and beyond can promote a variety of positive student outcomes that impact school and career success, including improved academic motivation, engagement, decision-making, and personal accountability.
Educators can use the Career and College Readiness Lesson Plans to provide students with the knowledge and experiences necessary to develop viable Career Action Plans.
Students can begin creating a Career Action Plan by establishing a California Career Center “My Stuff” account. Plans can be created, saved, and revised in an ongoing process of development.
